Last Thursday, the FFF executive committee met. The Federation has indicated that the numbering of players’ jerseys will be extended in the first and second divisions.

Thursday June 20, 2024, the executive committee of the French Football Federation met. With Philippe Diallo at the presidency, the members of the executive committee took several decisions. Jean Michel Classes and Vincent Labrune, among others, were also present. The members of the FFF have decided to expand the numbering of the jerseys for the players of the first and second of the newly created Professional League.

In concrete terms, female footballers will now be allowed to wear “dintegers ranging from 1 to 99, the number 1 being exclusively and obligatorily reserved for a babysitter“. According to the minutes of the committee, this rule will come into force from the 2024-2025 season. Last year, the numbering of women in D1 was more regulated.

In Ligue 1 and Ligue 2, it was already possible to flock a number less than 100. For example, inOLAinsley Maitland-Niles has 98, while Mohamed El Arouch door 84. Furthermore, this rule already existed in the Women’s Champions League. Thus, the players of the women’s section of theOlympique Lyonnais can change their number. Even if it is anecdotal, the first recruit of the Rhone club, namely Sofie Sleepwill therefore be able to benefit from a wide choice of numbers.
