The Flyers placed goalie Samuel Ersson on injured reserve Monday with a lower-body injury.
Ersson is 5-2-2 this season with a .902 save percentage and a 2.70 goals-against average. The 25-year-old goalkeeper has not played since HIS shootout victory against the San Jose Sharks on November 11, where he made 28 saves on 31 shots.
The Flyers also announced that defenseman Emil Andrae will be unable to play in Monday’s game against the Colorado Avalanche due to a mid-body injury. As a result, the Flyers recalled guard Helge Grans from the Lehigh Valley Phantoms of the American Hockey League.
Tage Thompson skates, Levi in the minors
Buffalo Sabers forward Tage Thompson skated before the team’s regular practice Monday.
The 6-foot-6 center was injured in the 7-5 loss to the Montreal Canadiens last Monday.
Thompson’s condition is still being re-evaluated daily due to a lower body injury.
Furthermore, at the end of training, Sabers coach Lindy Ruff indicated that Quebec goaltender Devon Levi was transferred to the Rochester Americans in the American League.
In seven games this season, the 22-year-old goaltender has signed two victories in seven games, while posting a goals against average of 3.95 and an efficiency percentage of .870.
Bruins recall Viel
The Boston Bruins have recalled Quebec forward Jeffrey Viel.
The 27-year-old played his last NHL game in 2022-23, then with the San Jose Sharks. In 49 career games in the Bettman circuit, Viel scored three goals and collected two assists.
In 14 games with the Providence Bruins since the start of the campaign, Viel has scored two goals and obtained as many assists.
