Former French international, Nyedzi Kpokpoya died last Wednesday at the age of 47, the French Basketball Federation announced this Monday in a press release. The former player lost her life “accidentally” in Marseille, the authority said, without indicating the exact circumstances of her death.
Trained at Insep, Nyedzi Kpokpoya began her career at US Valenciennes in 1994 before playing in Aix-en-Provence, Rennes and Villeneuve d'Ascq. Her performances opened the doors to the French team, where she wore the jersey 21 times between 1994 and 1996. After ten years at the highest level, she ended her career in 2005 at the end of 'one last season for Saint-Amand.
Holder of several diplomas, she subsequently joined a consulting firm specializing in finance in London and published the book “Rebond” in 2014. In this work, she notably transposed sporting concepts to everyday business situations.
