Algeria Football – The organization of the 2025 African Cup of Nations (CAN 2025) by Morocco is once again at the heart of the concerns of the Confederation of African Football (CAF). The secretary general of the body, in a recent statement, expressed serious concerns about the state of preparedness of the country designated to host this prestigious continental competition.
According to his remarks, the organizing country, Morocco, is not yet ready to meet the logistical and organizational requirements imposed by an event like CAN 2025. This critical situation pushed CAF to schedule an emergency meeting which will take place will be held in Cairo on February 1, 2025. This meeting will be decisive in assessing the situation and determining the responsibilities of the different parties involved. “The organizing country of the next CAN 2025 (Morocco) is not ready. A meeting will be held on February 1, 2025 to determine responsibilities.”
The CAN, which brings together the best African teams, requires rigorous organization, including the preparation of sports and hotel infrastructure, the establishment of an adequate transport system and the guarantee of the safety of players and supporters. Failure to comply with these criteria could compromise the image of the event as well as that of CAF.
The meeting planned in Cairo will therefore be crucial for the future of CAN 2025. The coming months promise to be decisive, and CAF will have to act quickly to avoid a crisis which could tarnish its image and that of African football.
