(Keystone-ATS) Six hydroelectric power stations of the energy company Axpo were affected by the floods in the Misox in Graubünden. The installations have been checked and are safe, assured the Aargau group.

The electrical installations were checked and shut down, the power plants and their dam lakes being in a “safe” and partially “operational” state, the group underlined Monday in a press release. Their commissioning will be decided at a later date.

The Officine Idroelettriche di Mesolcina (OIM), Calancasca, Elettricità Industriale (Elin), Idro Arvigo and Tecnicama power plants were affected by the recent bad weather. Those of OIM and Calancasca suffered “minor” damage, but are ready to restart. The Elin installations, on the other hand, “suffered damage”, unspecified, and will only be able to resume service after repairs.

Thunderstorms and very heavy rainfall caused floods and landslides in the Mesolcina valley, in the canton of Graubünden, on Friday evening. The village of Sorte was particularly affected, with several houses and vehicles swept away. The body of one of the missing people was found on Sunday, police said, while operations continue to find two other people.
