Francophonie: coaching students in thesis year for the “MT 180s” competition

This competition was officially launched on June 27 by the representative of the University Agency in Congo, Professor Edouard Ngamoutsika, within this agency in Brazzaville. ” At the moment, we are coaching Congolese students to participate in an international event called My 180s thesis which consists of presenting their work. And the requirement is temporal; they must deliver this presentation in 3 minutes. If they do 2 minutes, they are stranded”, said Prof Edouard Ngamoutsika.

The training will then be attended by doctoral students from Marien-Ngouabi University in Brazzaville, those responsible for doctoral training, a local pitch trainer and three members of the jury chosen from among the A-rank teachers.

Regarding the selection criteria, Professor Ngamoutsika said that it is necessary to be in the thesis year, and there was a call for tenders. At the end of the training, there will be, in the coming days, a competition where 15 of them will be selected who will compete for three prizes and the 4e is that of the public. ”The particularity of this year is that our winner will have the opportunity to participate in the international competition. We select the best on objective bases”, he clarified.

This training is welcomed by students, one of whom, Marcelin Mouzita, spoke to the press, stating: ” This exercise helps us de-stress on the day of the defense. We are in the process of learning how to say in a few words but completely everything that we had to deal with, the results we achieved and what are the steps to achieve these results. But all this in 180s. During these three minutes, you must be serene, calm. You have to summarize and be concrete”.

As a reminder, the MT 180s competition is an event which takes place on stage and in front of an audience. This involves, among other things, highlighting the next generation of scientists in all disciplines; to encourage young researchers to popularize their research work and to allow them to network with researchers from other disciplines and other countries, while promoting the French language as well as openness to other audiences, other encounters, other cultures.

Note that this year, Congo has again been chosen among the countries of Central Africa and the Great Lakes to organize the 2e edition of MT180s with the possibility of participating in the international final.
