The Catalans could play the American tour with the 2023-2024 jerseys due to a design error on their new kit.
Tensions continue between FC Barcelona and its equipment supplier Nike. The American brand had already been noticed in a bad way in the middle of the week after a logo error on the collector’s jersey for the 125th anniversary of the Catalan club. Nike had in fact launched the production of this collector’s jersey with the wrong Spotify logo… This error therefore led to a postponement of the sale of the jerseys and could even impact the professional squad in the coming weeks according to the Spanish media AS .
Barça could play the American tour with their 2023-2024 jerseys
At the start of 2024, the idea of an end to the partnership between FC Barcelona and Nike, its historic equipment supplier, was raised by Joan Laporta, president of the Catalan club. Nothing concrete has happened since and Barça was therefore well on its way to extending his contract. But the incidents that have taken place in recent days have increased tension in the Catalan club.
The design error of the Spotify logo (the old logo of the music streaming service was printed on the new jerseys) – in addition to delaying the first sales of the 125th anniversary jersey in a city of Barcelona full of tourists -, will perhaps force the professional squad to play again with the 2023-2024 jersey in the coming weeks. It is possible that the Catalan club’s new jerseys arrive too late for the summer tour in the United States (3 matches between July 30 and August 6, 2024), which would really not help the FC Barcelona/Nike relationship.
