Four days after the withdrawal of Sarah Ourahmoune, co-candidate alongside outgoing president Dominique Nato, another Olympic medalist is stepping away from positions of power at the French Boxing Federation. “As I expected, the CSOE of the French Boxing Federation decided to validate the list of the outgoing president without any observation and to invalidate the list 'Energy for boxing in France' that I submitted”announced, bitterly, Estelle Mossely on her X account, Friday November 15.
According to the Rio 2016 Olympic champion, the reason on which her ouster is based is unfounded. “One of my candidates out of the 21 would be dismissed by presenting a 'voluntary' participation title, a sort of license which would prevent her from being a candidate. This title does not exist in the internal regulations of the French Boxing Federation! It's an invention to harm me and prevent me from running for president.”she writes.
Article 3 of the internal regulations of the FFB mentions many participation titles “discovery”, “cooperation”, “partnership” but no trace of a participation title “voluntary”. “We are inventing a title so that one of the candidates, who has been dismissed from the FFB for years, and who also boxed in May 2024, is not eligible”she believes, announcing that she would file an appeal “as soon as possible to have the decision annulled”.
The election of the future president of the federation will be held on December 14. Only two lists were known until now: that of outgoing president Dominique Nato and that of Estelle Mossely.
