XV of France – Intensity and some lessons… The Blues tested themselves against Romania

This Saturday in Marcoussis, the XV of France received a visit from the Romanian selection. A guided training session was organized between the two teams. Several combinations of players were used by the French staff.

It wasn’t a match, but it looked like one! This Saturday, the XV of France welcomed the Romanian selection to Marcoussis, to share guided training together. In front of 1000 people, notably many young people, the blue staff had scheduled a rather special session, between separate workshops and real opposition against the Romanians. First separated on two fields, the two selections revised their ranges in order to increase intensity. On the blue side, the numbered bibs revealed a first team composition, including Melvyn Jaminet at the back, Baptiste Serin in the scrum or even Jordan Joseph in 8. A first composition which was slightly modified upon the arrival of the Romanians , very applauded this afternoon.

Chasuble shared between Berdeu and Carbonel

Thus, Louis Carbonel took the chasuble of Léo Berdeu, Émilien Gailleton that of Léon Darricarrère and Tevita Tatafu that of Thomas Laclayat. Barely started, the opposition left little room for doubt. Intensity was at the center of the debates, as usual, with Jérôme Garcès who blew his whistle as soon as a ruck was slowed down and two teams who were instructed to play the balls quickly. Physically too, the two nations did not spare each other with very real contacts, like this percussion from Posolo Tuilagi which put a Romanian second row on the buttocks from the start. A player from David Gérard’s selection was also injured during a duel. With changes galore on one side or the other, the players did not spare each other as soon as they set foot on the pitch. Janick Tarrit, Theo Attissogbe (twice), Léon Darricarrère, Teddy Baubigny, Joris Jurand, Giorgi Beria, Lenni Nouchi and Jordan Joseph notably stood out with a try.

In the second period, the Blues showed themselves to be very superior to an opposing selection which was unable to compete on a physical level. A good way to prepare for the upcoming tests during the tour in Argentina, after training with the U20s during the week. Happy to oppose the Romanians during this initially rainy afternoon, William Servat emphasized before training: “The advantage of playing against teams like Romania is that we know that they are more seasoned and mature guys. In the confrontation, we know that they have physical capacities which correspond to what awaits us in Argentina. On a wet pitch but ultimately under the sun, 31 French players were used. Only Baptiste Jauneau was still spared this Saturday, due to a calf injury contracted with Clermont. Note that Joris Jurand’s session was shortened due to a crutch. Workshops separating the fronts and three-quarters were then carried out. Enough to allow newbies to understand the game system, before moving on to the real oppositions.

The Blues XV at the start of training: 15. Jaminet; 14. Attissogbe, 13. Frisch, 12. Darricarrère, 11. Jurand; 10. Berdeu, 9. Serin; 7. Tixeront, 8. Joseph, 6. Nouchi; 5. Tuilagi, 4. Auradou; 3. Laclayat, 2. Barlot, 1. Gros.
