The Swiss men’s 4x100m relay missed the mark on Saturday during the AtleticaGeneva meeting.
In search of a time lower than 38”30 to hope to qualify for the Paris Games, the quartet Bradley Lestrade/Timothé Mumenthaler/Felix Svensson/William Reais could not do better than 38”96. A time synonymous with 2nd place behind the Netherlands (38”75).
In very difficult conditions due to the rain, the quartet did not manage to place Switzerland in the top 16 of the world ranking of the specialty, decisive for the allocation of the last two tickets for the Olympics. To do this, he would have had to beat the national record, set at 38”36.
The qualification period for the Games will end on June 30. But until then, Switzerland (18th in this specific ranking thanks to a time of 38”53 achieved in 2023) will hardly have the opportunity to delight the Netherlands (38”30) in 16th and last ticket available for the big meeting of the season.
Convincing return for Werro
Audrey Werro, for her part, signed a convincing summer return at the very end of the program of this meeting. The 20-year-old from Fribourg, injured in a thigh during her preparation and forced to give up the Europeans in Rome, won over 800 m, going under two minutes (1’59”99).
