The 29-year-old has only played one tennis match since the quarterfinals of the 2022 U.S. Open due to knee and wrist injuries.

Six weeks earlier, he had been defeated by Novak Djokovic in the Wimbledon final.

Kyrgios mentioned that he also wanted to participate in the Australian Open in 2025. Until then, he plans to take part in friendly duels from December 19 to 22 in Abu Dhabi.

The Australian, who has won seven ATP Tour titles, said he was excited to return to action in front of his fans.

“Honestly, I haven’t felt this good in two years,” he admitted during an interview on Melbourne television.

“I played this incredible year in 2022. Then, after Wimbledon and the U.S. Open, I started to experience problems with my wrist. I had this wrist reconstruction done and now I feel amazing. »
