This Thursday, June 20, Gazélec Ajaccio, a French second division volleyball club, decided to post a job offer on an agency in order to expand its workforce.

This is an original way to recruit a player. Second this season in League B (2nd division) volleyball, Gazélec Ajaccio failed in the final stages against Cannes and therefore cannot access the elite next year. The Corsican club has therefore decided to strengthen itself to try to achieve this objective in 2024/2025.

While they could have tried to make their network work, Gazélec had the idea of publishing a job offer with a work agency, in this case France Travail, to encourage volleyball players to sign with the club , and in particular those who play in the point position and who have experience. Female players are also welcome.

“GFC Ajaccio volleyball is looking for a professional volleyball player (M/F)”, it is written. The offer is almost equivalent to a traditional job: “10-month fixed-term contract, 35 hours per week, 1850 euros gross per month”.

A fairly surprising offer for a top club but it is not the first time. In football, some clubs have already done the same recently such as FC Versailles (National; 3rd division) or the Gard club Stade Beaucairois (National 3; 6th division).
