Cayden Primeau “needs” a stay in in the eyes of Stéphane Waite

Right now, Cayden Primeau’s confidence is broken.

He doesn’t play to win: he plays to try to save his skin and to try not to look crazy in front of his net.

This is when the chain can come down for a goalie. Without confidence, it’s difficult to stop the shots of the best hockey players in the world…

Since his performance against the Sabres, it’s the same question that keeps coming up.

What do we do with him?

Obviously, the option of sending him to is on the table. He would have to go through waivers before being able to join the ranks of the Rocket… But seeing his performance since the start of the season, it would be surprising to see him be claimed by another NHL team.

But Stéphane Waite went even further last night on the Antichambre (RDS) set.

For the former CH goalkeeper coach, the Canadian has no choice in sending him down: Waite maintains that Primeau needs a stay in Laval to regain confidence.

During the last season, Primeau had relatively interesting numbers.

His goals-against average of 2.99 wasn’t the best because the Canadian allowed a lot of goals in general, but his save percentage of .910 was respectable.

If he had an efficiency rate of .910 this season, he would be in the top-17 of NHL goaltenders in this category.

But there, his efficiency rate (.845) is the worst of all goalkeepers in the National League and that’s why it’s time to see the Canadian make a decision in his case.

The Canadian needs to help him a little and it’s not by sending him to face the best players in the world that that’s going to happen.

That said, if the CH places Primeau on waivers with the aim of sending him to Laval, they will have to recall a goalkeeper to replace him. And at that point, one would have to wonder if it would be Connor Hughes or Jakub Dobes who would get the call.

My gut tells me it’s Hughes because he’s older and because he has more experience with the pros… But we also know that the Canadian really likes Dobes.

Brief. All this to say that it is not too difficult to agree with Stéphane Waite’s words.

In burst

– He has collected six points in his last six games.

– Sidney Crosby seems like such a good person.

– Will he score tonight?

– Logic.

– Whoa.
