The start of the 5th day of the CAN 2025 qualifiers made it possible this Wednesday to see a ninth selection qualified for the final phase in Morocco.
Already eliminated, the Liberia saved the honor by pocketing his first victory of this qualifying campaign against the Togo (1-0) in Monrovia. Mohammed Sangaré scored the only goal of the game in favor of the Lone Stars in the 83rd minute on a penalty resulting from a handball from Djené Dakonam. This result has serious consequences for ranking of this group E of qualifications.
Equatorial Guinea qualified without playing, Togo eliminated
Indeed, Togo is eliminated following this defeat and will miss a 4th consecutive CAN, while the Equatorial Guinea is now assured of its qualification even before hosting Algeria on Thursday afternoon on the penultimate day of the qualifiers.
8th finalist in the last edition but losing momentum in recent months, Nzalang Nacional will try to regain form by the final phase which will begin on December 21, 2025. Togo will try to save the honor and to avoid finishing last by welcoming Iban Edu’s teammates (photo) Sunday.
