It’s a sigh of relief that we had some senior executives from the Montreal Canadiens this afternoon. A 7-5 road victory against the Buffalo Sabers after an endless 6-game losing streak.
Coach Martin St-Louis’ right-hand man was Cayden Primeau today. It was a fifth start this season for the #30 who had only tasted victory once, last October 27 in Philadelphia.
Former CH goalkeeper coach, Stéphane Waite, was invited on 98.5 Sports after the match and did not mince his words against #30. According to him, Primeau had a very bad game and he did not like at all what he saw from Samuel Montembeault’s assistant.
“He is the worst goalie statistically in the NHL. I don’t think he would be claimed on waivers. He’s reaching a crossroads, if he doesn’t manage to win this year it’s over.” -Stéphane Waite
Strong and very clear words following a long-awaited victory. However, Primeau was removed from the game today after 43:43 of play. St-Louis sent Montembeault to take over after the Sabres’ fifth goal.
This season, Primeau has a low save percentage of .845 and a goals-against average of 4.67. Much higher numbers than what he presented in his young career. In 51 games in the NHL, he posted a save percentage of .887 and a goals against average of 3.63.
What would you do with Cayden Primeau?
