Formula 1 | Horner disagrees with Marko: constructors’ title remains possible for Red Bull

Christian Horner insists that “everything remains to be played” in the fight for the constructors’ title in after Red Bull’s return to form in Brazil.

After a drought of almost five months since the Spanish GP in June, Max Verstappen produced one of the best performances of his career by winning from 17th place on the grid at Interlagos, crushing the hopes of title by Lando Norris.

Verstappen now finds himself 62 points ahead of Norris, and will be F1 champion for the fourth time if he leaves Las Vegas 60 points ahead of the McLaren driver.

On the other hand, among the constructors, Red Bull has already slipped to third place, mainly due to the continued poor form of Sergio Perez, who has scored only 48 points in 15 races (since Miami in May).

McLaren leads the standings with 593 points, ahead of Ferrari with 557 and Red Bull with 544. 147 points are up for grabs over the last three races.

Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko said after Verstappen’s victory that he was “impossible” for the team to win its third consecutive constructors’ title.

However, Horner believes that with Red Bull within 50 points of McLaren, it is still possible. This isn’t the first time this season that the two have disagreed on various topics.

“It’s tricky and we’ve had a very good start to our season, but other teams have reached very good form over the summer months.”

“Only recently have we started to get some real performance back out of the car, winning the sprint race in Austin and now the Grand Prix at Interlagos.”

“But everything remains to play for now, there are still three Grands Prix and a sprint race to go, so there are a lot of points to be taken.”

“It was a great result for us in Brazil, we scored big points, we hadn’t won since June, but our eighth win of the year was a dominant win as it turned out in the end. “

“It’s a great comeback for the team after a difficult period over the last two months.”

“The next Grands Prix will be more predictable in terms of weather and we hope that Checo will play his part to try to get back on Ferrari first and McLaren second. He knows he has to raise his level of play and work to maximize his results .”
