In the format of the MX des Nations, the five delegations present competed over two rounds. For the Blues, Christophe Charlier and Toni Giorgessi competed in MX1, while in MX2 Alexis Fueri joined Romain Seranon following Paolo Maschio’s last minute withdrawal. The first round started very well with a group shot from the Blues in the leading group. Christophe Charlier placed himself in the wheel of the leader Nil Arcaronis from the first turn. He remained a few lengths behind the Spaniard throughout the race without being able to mount an attack. He crosses the line at a nice 2th place. Fourth during the first laps after a good start, Toni Giorgessi was unable to keep up the pace, the fault of a stubborn forearm ache. First overtaken by Alexis Fueri, he slowly fell back to 9thposition. Conversely, Alexis put his heart into the work to enter the top 3 halfway through the race. Long the first MX2 rider, he couldn’t resist the return of another 250cc rider. Despite good resistance, the Spaniard Adria Monne found the opening four laps from the checkered flag. Locked at the start between two MX1s, Romain Seranon found himself dead last at the first turn. The Varois gained seven places in the first round to finish 10th. At the end of the 1era race, the Blues were in the match, three points behind the Spaniards, but clearly ahead of the Italians, Croats and Moroccans.
The second start was more complicated than the first for the French. Christophe once again made an excellent exit from the grid just behind Arcaronis, who came out in the lead. On the other hand Alexis, Toni and Romain found themselves locked in 2th platoon party. Up front, Arcaronis was forced to retire on the 1stis turn on mechanical problem. Christophe then took control, pursued by the Croatian Matija Kelava and three Iberians. Quickly, the race turned into Christophe against the Spanish armada! In experience, he has already won the Mx des Nations, the Corsican resisted the entire race to win with a second ahead of Ubach and 2.5 over Monne. Behind, our tricolors make a solid group shot between the 5th and the 7th position. Very diligent, Romain, once again last at the start, had an excellent race to enter the Top 5. However, insufficient to worry the Iberians who fielded a very dense team in Pernes-les-Fontaines. First in MX1 and 2ths in MX2, Benoît Fortunato’s men finished with 16 points, six lengths behind the Spaniards. They are ahead of Italy by eight points. The Croats fail in 4th place with nevertheless a podium in MX1. The Moroccans bring up the rear even though they were on the podium last year in Marrakech!
