Following the use of smoke bombs before the match between OL and AS Saint-Etienne, the police arrested four supporters.
With the absence of supporters Saint-Etiennethe fear of excesses around the stadium was less than usual. It is rather what was going to happen inside the OL Park which was feared by the Lyon management. With the recent desire of public authorities to toughen up the tone on homophobic chants and violence in the stands, the fear of a stoppage weighed over the derby. Finally, no interruption of the match, despite sometimes more than enough singing. In the end, it was outside the enclosure and before the meeting that arrests took place, according to our colleagues from BFM Lyon, quoting the Prefecture. Faced with the excitement around the derby, several hundred supporters chose to come to the stadium very early.
Match interrupted five minutes after kick-off
This quickly gave rise to songs, but also to the cracking of smoke bombs and wild fireworks. These actions therefore led to four arrests of supporters, one of whom was a minor. These supporters were arrested after using smoke bombs before the match kicked off. Inside the stadium, the use of pyrotechnic devices led to the start of the match being interrupted for several minutes between theOL and theAS Saint-Etiennethe visibility on the ground was not there after the collapse of the Virage Sud.
