all RS Berkane opponents lose a player!

Algeria – Iconic Moroccan club RS Berkane is once again in the spotlight after a series of controversial incidents during its CAF Cup matches. Indeed, out of the 10 matches played by the Berkane club, six saw players from the opposing Moroccan championship be expelled, reducing their teams to ten. This statistic calls into question and raises questions about how these expulsions occurred.

The expulsions took place during matches where the opponent was, each time, a Moroccan team, which reinforced the controversy surrounding these events. Although refereeing decisions are supposed to be objective and based on the actions of players on the field, the recurrence of these expulsions raises questions about playing conditions and the role of refereeing.

This phenomenon is all the more striking as it is rare for a club, in an international competition, to be faced with so many matches where the opposing team is reduced to ten. The impact of these expulsions on the progress of the matches is undeniable, because they gave a significant advantage to Berkane, allowing the team to play against already weakened formations.

Criticism of RS Berkane is not new. The club has already been involved in another controversy in April 2024, during the elimination of USM Alger, after an incident linked to a jersey containing a map of Morocco incorporating the disputed territories of Western Sahara. This new series of expulsions further fuels suspicions of questionable behavior and a lack of fair play in the competition.

The recurring expulsions of Moroccan players, in crucial matches for their teams, have cast a shadow over Berkane’s performances. The uncertainty surrounding these refereeing decisions could harm the club’s reputation and the credibility of the competition.
