Last night, FC Barcelona had fun again on the pitch of Red Star Belgrade (5-2). Leader of La Liga, the culé club also moved up the Champions League rankings after its inaugural defeat against AS Monaco (1-2). Now sixth in the standings with nine points, the culé club is the best attack in the competition with fifteen goals scored. Moreover, the five new entrants last night in Serbia allowed Hansi Flick’s gang to beat a 74-year-old record.
55 goals in 16 matches, a record for Barça!
Indeed, as the Stats Foot account points out, Barça scored 55 goals after its first 16 matches of a season in official competition for the first time in its history, doing better than the 1950/51 financial year (54). An incredible performance which allows the culé club to now advance as one of the favorites for the final victory. As a reminder, the Blaugranas, winners of the competition five times, have not won the Big Ears Cup since 2015, the date of their last success when they beat Juventus in the final (3-1).
