This stroke of genius from Christopher will long be remembered by fans. This bet, as improbable as it is inspired, reminds us that in motorsport, anything can happen, especially in the rain.

While nothing suggested a podium for the Alpine drivers before the Brazilian Grand Prix, a French bettor bet on the improbable and won a substantial sum.

Christopher, 33, bet just 10 cents on the podium for the two French drivers, Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly, a bet which turned out to be a winner after an incredible race.

The heist of the century by Alpine

Arriving in São Paulo occupying ninth place in the constructors’ championship, the Alpine team did not seem able to place its two drivers on the podium of the Brazilian Grand Prix. However, an unexpected scenario allowed the French team to shine during this rainy Grand Prix. This surprise took everyone by surprise, including the drivers themselves, who addressed the subject at a press conference after the race.

Pierre Gasly, still stunned, declared: “I don’t think anyone in the world today would have thought that at some point this year two Alpines would be on the podium.” His teammate, Esteban Ocon, reacted by joking: “I want to know the guy who bet on this.” Gasly concluded by calling this bettor a “absolute legend” if it ever existed.

Meet the daring bettor

It turns out that this “absolute legend” does exist. Christopher, interviewed by RMC Sportshared his experience. Betting on astronomical odds of 160,000, he pocketed the sum of 16,000 euros thanks to his flair.

“On Thursday, when I got the news that it was going to rain, I sent lots of little handsets on the top 2, top 3, top 6he confided. Having invested 50 euros in total in different bets, I was just hoping to spice up my race a little.”

A victory that is played out until the last round

Christopher revealed that he experienced the final laps with palpable tension, especially after the red flag came out. At this point he starts to believe it, but there are still 30 laps left and anything can happen in F1.

“At the end I didn’t even watch the race anymore, I only looked at the gaps between Russell and Gasly” he explained, anxious that everything would change at the last minute.

When the checkered flag fell, confirming Alpine’s double podium, Christopher felt an immense sense of relief rather than an explosion of joy. He says: “I didn’t scream or jump, but I was super happy.”

This unexpected bet made him famous among Alpine fans, and he even plans to frame the winning ticket with a photo of the podium as a memento of this unique feat.
