Norris “doesn’t think” there will be “a much better driver than Verstappen in F1”

Lando Norris was particularly complimentary of Max Verstappen at a press conference in Las Vegas, considering him “one of the best drivers in the history of Formula 1.”

While Max Verstappen started the season with a string of victories, the 2024 title seemed like a simple formality for the Red Bull driver. However, the surprising and rapid arrival of McLaren at the forefront has long led to believe in a return of Lando Norris.

However, after a memorable Brazilian Grand Prix contested in the rain and concluded with an incredible victory for Max Verstappen, Norris's title hopes have greatly diminished.

Lando Norris thus underlined the difficulty of facing a driver of the caliber of Max Verstappen, probable future quadruple world champion.

“No one has faced Max this early in their career, halfway through the season, and fought, I think, reasonably,” Norris said. “I mean I'm here, but there's no one else doing it, you know?

“So I did my best. I didn't do well enough. And I always admitted it. I think Max is probably one of the best drivers in the history of Formula 1 and I don't think you can find a much better driver than Max in Formula 1 again.

“It's my opinion, but it's what I believe in and for me to go against that belief, to fight against this person that I know is so good, takes a little more than what I have probably achieved this season, but I think what I've done since the summer break is closer to where I need to be, and I think it's close to being good enough to contend for next year ”concluded the McLaren driver.
