NBA summary for November 6, 2024: Mathurin leads the charge against a routed Magic

The Indiana Pacers defeated the Orlando Magic 118-111, who concluded their five-game road trip in disastrous fashion, with no wins.

Bennedict Mathurin guided his troop with a harvest of 20 points and 11 rebounds, he who is installed in the top-3 of the best pointers on his team.

The point guard, Pascal Siakam, had 17 points, as did Myles Turner, Tyrese Haliburton and Jarace Walker. Andrew Nembhard’s case was uncertain due to left knee soreness, but he ultimately played and was limited to 5 points.

The Pacers have the fifth most productive offense in the league averaging nearly 120 points per game. They had the lead for the majority of the game, but it got closer when the Magic briefly took the lead in the fourth quarter 95-94. The Pacers, however, chained together seven points without reply to keep sufficient distance.

They were facing one of the best defensive teams in the league, but one that struggles to make baskets on the other end of the court and is one of the worst on 3-pointers

Orlando won the first duel between the two teams 119-115 a week ago. The difference this time was that there was a big absentee in Paolo Banchero, who had 50 points in this performance. Wendell Carter was also missing.

Franz Wagner responded with 28 points, then Jalen Suggs followed with 15.

A record of the Knights

The 2024-2025 Cleveland Cavaliers are making history. They recorded a team-record ninth straight victory to start the season.

This new victory was recorded in front of the New Pelicans by a score of 131 to 122.

Unsurprisingly, Donovan Mitchell has been the offensive sparkplug for the Cavaliers. He led his team with 29 points, even though he only made 10 of his 20 baskets in the entire contest.

Darius Garland was effective on the evening with four baskets from downtown on six occasions. He finished his match with 14 points.

Even though he started the game from the bench, Caris LeVert moved into second place in his team’s points in this game with 16. He is tied with Jarrett Allen in this regard, the latter having also obtained a doubled with 14 rebounds.

For the Pelicans, Zion Williamson scored 29 points, including 11 on free throws. Jose Alvarado scored 27 points and Brandon Ingram followed with 20 points for New Orleans, which has only three wins in nine games since the start of the campaign.

With the Oklahoma City Thunder’s loss to the Denver Nuggets late in the evening, the Cavaliers remain the only undefeated team in the NBA.

The Cavaliers will put their perfection on the line Friday against the Golden State Warriors.

The Raptors accumulate defeats

DeMar DeRozan scored 27 points against his former team and the Sacramento Kings came from behind to defeat the Toronto Raptors 122-107.

DeRozan notably amassed 11 points in the fourth quarter, which the local favorites had started trailing 93-89.

Keegan Murray scored twice in this victory with 22 points and 12 rebounds.

RJ Barrett was the Raptors’ best offensive player with 23 points. Quebecer Chris Boucher did well with 17 points and four rebounds in 25 minutes.

The Raptors have won only two of their nine games this season. They will visit the Clippers and the Lakers on Saturday and Sunday in Los Angeles, then begin the group stage of the season tournament against the Bucks on Tuesday in Milwaukee.
