The Greek, once again, regretted the XXL format of the Masters 1000.

Stefanos Tsisipas (12e world player, recent quarter-finalist of the Rolex Masters, eliminated by Alexander Zverev, the future winner) who, in 2024, won the Masters 1000 in Monte-Carlo has, once again, renewed his criticism against the ATP and the format of the Masters 1000 played over two weeks. On X, the Greek explained: “The two-week Masters 1000 has become a real chore. The quality has definitely declined. Players don’t get the recovery or training time they need, with non-stop matches and no space for intense work off the court. It is ironic that the ATP committed to this format without knowing whether it could really improve the schedule, but also the quality. Paris did things well, in one week. Exciting and easy to follow. This is how it should be. If the goal was to shorten the schedule, extending it from every 1000 to two weeks is a step backwards. Sometimes it feels like they’re fixing what wasn’t broken. »
