RFC Liège returned to training this Monday. The moment chosen by Pierre François and Gaëtan Englebert for a press conference, in order to discuss, among other things, the Sang & Marine transfer window.

RFC Liège resumed training this Monday, June 10. An initial preparation of two and a half weeks, followed by a break until the beginning of July and the last five weeks before the resumption of the championship. This afternoon, Gaëtan Englebert and Pierre François appeared before the press to discuss, in particular, the Sang & Marine transfer window.

“We signed everyone who reached the end of the course. Benjamin Lambot first, then Zakaria Atteri and Lucca Lucker, who signed new two-year contracts. We also extended the expiring contracts of Maxime Cavelier and Ryan Merlen have left, predictably, Benjamin Van den Ackervecken and Émilien Massart Normally, Tom Panepinto should also join another club. According to the emails received today, this seems to be confirmed. François, who did not comment on the identity of this club.

“The only real departure is that of Reno Wilmots, who benefited from an exit clause. He seems to want to activate it today. Precisely because this departure is scheduled, we sought to anticipate it by recruiting Théo Pierrot ( Editor’s note: as we announced to you this weekend), an agreement has been reached for a two-season contract. This does not end the club’s recruitment, but the team will not, however, have a face. Quite different.”

Gaëtan Englebert therefore saw his players at work again this Monday for the first time in approximately six weeks. T1 Sang & Marine which, followed by STVV, extended its contract in Rocourt, is satisfied with this first session.

“On the restart, we are happy with what we have seen and with the group. The starters from last season are still there, but we know that with sixteen outfield players, we cannot last a season. We will try to find players who fit the club’s conditions, financially and in mentality. Perhaps look for versatile players, who can fill several positions, except for the center forward position, or it will take a particular profile. .”

Adriano Bertaccini has not yet been replaced. Gaëtan Englebert found several solutions during the second round, but these solutions are, in the long term, not viable.

“We can’t start the season with just one striker. There’s less competition in either position on the pitch, so we’ll see if we can find players who can push those present to be better, or even take their place. This is our job in the coming weeks. When we resume preparation in July, it would be good to have a majority of players present to have a team working towards the start of the championship.

RFC Liège is looking for, at least, a top striker

“We are looking for offensive solutions. Atteri has shown that we can count on him, he has a particular profile. We must adapt to the players we have, but also have alternative solutions and different profiles in the event of problem. This is where we have to strengthen ourselves last year in Bruges, we had to play with attacking midfielders as attackers. We can do that two or three times in a season, but it’s not one. long-term solution.”

This Monday, for the resumption, no less than six players were tested by the Liège staff. Théo Pierrot, therefore, as well as five other surprise guests. Future Blood & Marine recruits? It’s not said…

“We had 16 outfield players. Even for training, it’s better to be more. Players approach the club, we have a lot of proposals. Sometimes, we look at one or two training sessions, that’s why there are had several tests today But there is nothing particular to note at the moment There are so many players available, players that we are offered that it is not always easy to sort. It also means that there are possibilities to strengthen the team with the right profiles. We still have time to do it, which is why it is not very urgent at the moment,” concluded Gaëtan Englebert.
