A new parking plan comes into effect from July 1 in Liège: here’s what will change

A new parking plan will come into effect in Liège from 1 July, the city announced on Friday. The parking policy has been revised to meet the challenges of mobility in the Ardent City, while implementing measures to benefit various categories of people.

For local residents living in Liège, a new division of dedicated zones should reduce the existing pressure on some of them. From now on, seventeen zones, covering the entire territory, are identified by letters (from A to Q). In his zone, and only in this zone, a local resident holding an authorization will be able to park free of charge in all so-called local and paid parking spaces. A new rate of 400 euros per year is proposed. For any other person wishing to park where it is paid, the price of the annual subscription is unchanged (600 euros) and allows you to park without time constraints in a paid space.

Facilities are also granted to close caregivers as well as professionals related to personal care and assistance at home. For workers, professionals and visitors, various flexible parking options are available in the paid zone, such as a “worry-free” flat rate daily ticket at 6 euros. The hourly rate is unchanged, i.e. 1.5 euros per hour, but the first quarter of an hour is now free. Payment will soon be possible by credit card in addition to existing possibilities.

Finally, more spaces will be designated “Shop & Drive” in order to generate more turnover for businesses. They allow free parking for 30 minutes. New Kiss&Ride locations, near schools, can also be activated. Parking availability is indicated on the “Liège en Poche” mobile application while information and forms for the parking plan are available via www.liege.be/stationnement.
