Olivier Renard is of course traveling to Riga for his first European match as sporting director of RSC Anderlecht. For the moment he remains in the shadows, and is making his mark.
Funny time for Olivier Renard. We know that Wouter Vandenhaute did not necessarily want the separation with Jesper Fredberg to happen so soon and things have rushed in recent weeks. The new sports director of Anderlecht was therefore a little “bombarded” in his position.
And he will not be able, concretely, to show what wood he is made of right away: the January transfer window is only in a little less than two months. Renard is therefore slowly getting his bearings; he was at the edge of the field in Riga, and leaves David Hubert complete freedom to string together positive results.
“We talked a little, but he has something else to do now. It’s a whole new club that he has to discover, he has his work cut out for him,” smiled the RSCA coach on this subject in the conference of press. “We, for our part, have a job and that is to perform in front of the eyes every three days. That leaves little time to think about anything else.”
The international break will be there for that. “We will have a little more time during the break to get to know each other a little better and also discover their working methods,” confirms Hubert.
One thing is certain: if Anderlecht arrives in January assured of spending the winter in Europe and well placed in the league, Renard’s job will be all the easier when it comes to convincing possible reinforcements.
