At the half-hour mark, while the rescuers left the area, the ultras made an announcement on the megaphone, and removed the flags from their emblematic stand.
“Due to an emergency medical intervention, there are currently no cheering chants from Bayern fans”Bayern tweeted during the first half.
The silence continued after the locker room, only the Benfica supporters were audible in the stadium of 75,000 spectators.
“We didn’t know it was because of a medical emergency. It’s absolutely understandable that there was no encouragement. We didn’t celebrate this victory in the locker room.”commented Bayern captain Manuel Neuer in the mixed zone.
“It’s not easy to talk about football. We didn’t celebrate as we normally do for a success”added Munich coach Vincent Kompany at a press conference.
