Killian Sardella is in Domenico Tedesco’s preselection. Will he be part of the group called up this Friday?
This week, Killian Sardella was at the center of the discussions. In an interview given to The Latest Newshe thus spoke of his future choice of selection, and in particular the fact that Cameroon was an option through his mother (read here).
A few hours later, we learned that he was in fact in Domenico Tedesco’s preselection. This Friday, we will know if he will be called up for good; In the meantime, Sardella spoke at a press conference on this subject from Riga.
“I was a little surprised. Of course, my performances last year and this season earned me this honor and I think it’s quite deserved. We’ll see if I’m there this Friday but I’ll be very happy”, rejoices Killian Sardella.
Priority to the Red Devils
In the past, the name of the Anderlecht right back was mentioned, especially given Tedesco’s difficulties in this position (Castagne out of shape, Meunier often injured). “Of course, it was a little disappointment not to have been called up. But I played in U21, I was captain there and it was a source of pride for me,” he puts things into perspective.
If Domenico Tedesco does indeed call him this Friday, he will ruin the politeness of Marc Brys’ Cameroon. “But I have not yet had contact with the Cameroonian coach. My agent has been in contact with the federation, yes,” admits Sardella. “It’s a pride to be considered by this great African football nation, which plays the CAN, the World Cup every time. It makes you think.”
But this reflection would not last long in the event of an appeal from the Belgian coach. “I grew up in Belgium, I did all my age categories here… My dream is to play for Belgium,” assures the Anderlechtois. “Would my mom be disappointed? It would be a dream for me to play for either team for her. She just wants the best for me.”
