Will Ugo Humbert finally manage to win the Caen Open? Forced to retire in the final of the 2021 edition against Jules Marie, beaten by Alex de Minaur last year, the best Frenchman in the ATP (14th) will be the headliner of the 2024 field of the exhibition tournament at Caen-la-Mer Sports Palace.

Will he find the tennis player-youtuber from Caen on his way? Possible since Jules Marie (277th) is also among the participants in the sporting event which will take place from December 8 to 11. As usual, the Norman will undoubtedly know how to take the public with him.

The 2024 edition of the Caen Open also promises its share of emotions. Two world tennis stars will play there for the last time, as they prepare to end their careers. Richard Gasquet, tournament stalwart and double winner (2012 and 2014) recently announced that he would bow out at the end of the next Roland Garros, in 2025.

Faithful to the Caen Open, Richard Gasquet – and his famous one-handed backhand – leaves the professional circuit after Roland Garros 2025.

Dominic Thiem will also be there. World No. 3 in 2020, winner of the US Open, finalist at Roland Garros, the Australian Open and the Masters, the Austrian never managed to regain his best level after a serious wrist injury. He also performs his last dance before putting away his racket at the end of the year.

The South African Cameron Norrie (57th), semi-finalist at Wimbledon in 2022, the French Alexandre Müller (68th) and Adrien Gobat (889th), from the qualifications, complete the men’s table.

Among the women, no huge headliners as was the case in previous editions with Elina Svitolina, Anna Kontaveit, Aliaksandra Sasnovich or the French Caroline Garcia and Varvara Gracheva.

The Belgian Elise Mertens (34th in the WTA rankings) and the promising Ukrainian Dayana Yastremska (33rd) are on the program for the competition which will be played over the first two days. At their side, the French challengers Audrey Albié – finalist of the first women’s edition in 2017 against Svitolina – and Alice Robbe.

The Englishwoman is on her way back after a start to the season disrupted by injuries when she managed to qualify for the four Grand Slam tournaments in 2023.
