The British Joe Atkinson distinguished himself by his creative lines in roller street skating as evidenced by, “jI can say that this skateboard festival is welcome in Libreville. There is real enthusiasm for this edition. The participants are up to the task and are passionate about practicing extreme sports. It is an event that deserves to be continued. And I’m happy to participate”said the native of Yorkshire in Great Britain
On the program for this high mass in Libreville: BMX, breakdancing, skateboarding, scootering, rollerblading and 3X3 basketball, all disciplines which are a great learning opportunity for young Gabonese amateurs. “Skateboarding is a discipline that is now part of the Olympic Games. Really for our young athletes to participate in this type of event, it’s really a big success for us. When we started practicing this sport, the objective for us was that young Gabonese people could be selected for this type of program to have an opportunity to go outside. I say a big thank you to the organizers of this event.», said Gustinelli Sangani, president of the Skyler Street Association of Gabon.
At the end of the first edition in 2023, nearly 200 young people benefited from training in urban sports. “The objective is to create a new kind of event with its disciplines on the skatepark: skateboarding, rollerblading and scootering. We also do BMX and breakdancing. Compared to last year, we have opened participation to the local community», says Baptiste Pecot, member of the FISE organizing committee.
FISE, for more than 25 years, has continued to evolve and bring together urban cultures. What was originally just a student project is now a model for promoting extreme sports. And Gabon is well on its way to being the driving force behind this festival on the African continent.
