French coach, Hervé Renard, reveals the reasons why he chose not to join the Teranga Lions of Senegal.
New coach of the Saudi Arabia team for more than a week, Renard returned to the reasons which ultimately distanced him from the Senegal national team. He admits to having submitted his candidacy before withdrawing for a specific reason.
“There were discussions. I had one wish, to have Omar Daf, a former Senegalese international, as my assistant. But Omar is the coach of Amiens, in Ligue 2. And this condition was not immediately possible to fulfill. I have therefore decided at this precise moment to withdraw my application”he revealed in Le Monde Afrique.
“Training Senegal, one of the best African teams, would have been a great challenge, it’s true, but all the conditions were not met”he added.
