According to the dailyYonne Republicanclashes between Rennes supporters and the police broke out near the Abbé-Deschamps stadium an hour before the match between AJ Auxerre and Stade Rennais this Sunday. The police had to use tear gas.
Three suspects arrested
“Today, in Auxerre, a police officer was beaten while being attacked by Rennes supporters. Three suspects were arrested »said Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau on X (ex-Twitter).
A police officer fell to the ground and was injured by Rennes supporters, the newspaper adds. Still according to the daily, he was notified of ten days of total incapacity for work.

“This type of unacceptable behavior deserves the most exemplary of sanctions”commented Mr. Retailleau in his message. For its part, the police union Alliance denounced on “unacceptable violence committed on the sidelines of the Auxerre – Rennes football match”.
