Frouzins tournament: the wheel has finally turned for Mahaut Bazzo

After two quarter-finals in quick succession at Vernet and Castelginest, the TC Fonsorbes player was titled on Saturday at the Frouzins tournament.

This time, she was the highest ranked in the tournament! Beaten in the quarterfinals at Vernet (May 23, with equal ranking) and at Castelginest (May 30, at 4/6), Mahaut Bazzo (15 years old) held her place, last weekend at Frouzins, in a table final bringing together five other players. “I think I had already competed in this event in the youth categories. But as an adult, it was the first time I found myself there,” emphasizes this 3rd grade student, ranked 15.

Directly placed in the last four, the member of the Fonsorbes club had to avoid two traps at 15/2: in the half, she went into two sets with only six games conceded; on the other hand, in the final, she had to fight to get through in three rounds. “In my matches, I often lose the first set. There, in this final, I made a lot of mistakes. So, something had to change. So, afterwards, I was especially careful to put the ball back in the field and it paid off,” summarizes the teenager, who so far this season has 27 victories for 19 defeats.

“I would finally like to go up to 5/6”

Launched into tennis at the age of 3, at the Plaisance club, Mahaut followed in her parents’ footsteps. But before joining the Fonsorbais ranks, she had a license at Stade Toulousain. “In itself, I don’t necessarily have a goal for this season. However, I would like to finally go up to 5/6,” specifies the one who trains four times a week alongside Christophe Carloni.

A padel player, the Fonsorbaise still gives priority to tennis. “Regarding my next tournaments, I must continue in Plaisance, TAC and Tournefeuille,” she says. Note that last year, on Toulouse soil, she surrendered in the final.
