The Montreal Canadiens will be back in action this evening, while the CH is again on the road, this time in Pittsburgh to face the Penguins.
The CH will try to get back on the path to victory after suffering two tough defeats this week with that of 8 to 2 against the Seattle Kraken and that of 6 to 3 against the Washington Capitals.
In preparation for this meeting, Martin St-Louis spoke to the media this afternoon, and he took the opportunity to announce a change within the lineup.
Indeed, Arber Xhekaj will take Justin Barron’s place in defense.
It’s a change that doesn’t surprise anyone, given that since the start of the season there has been a certain rotation in defense to allow all the guys to play matches and keep in shape.
We can also wonder if Jayden Strbule could fit into this rotation, while he could potentially skip his turn next week if he has other ordinary performances.
Obviously, this is good news for Xhekaj, who will have another opportunity to showcase himself after playing two good matches last weekend.
It was obviously more difficult for the sheriff against the Kraken on Tuesday, which cost him his place in the lineup on Thursday against the Caps.
In short, Xhekaj will still have to prove himself in the lineup tonight if he wants to earn more games and more ice time under Martin St-Louis, who, we remind you, does not seem to be his biggest fan.
Otherwise, in front of the net, it is Samuel Montembeault who will be automatically, while he will get his first start since the thaw against the Kraken on Tuesday.
It will be an important match for Montembeault who will obviously want to bounce back, and above all regain his confidence which he has really lost in recent matches.
In short, let’s hope that these changes and Martin St-Louis’ intense training yesterday will help the team get back on the path to victory.
