Former Manchester United striker Dwight Yorke was named coach of Trinidad and Tobago on Friday ahead of their 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

“I look forward to working with this talented and close-knit group of players”declared Dwight Yorke, the new coach of Trinidad and Tobago in a press release published by the Football Federation of Trinidad and Tobago.
Present at the 2006 World Cup
The 52-year-old technician played for almost 20 years in the English championship, notably at Aston Villa (1989-1998) and Manchester United (1998-2002). He also played in the 2006 World Cup as captain of the Soca Warriors. During this only participation of the Caribbean selection at the World Cup, Yorke and his teammates were eliminated in the first round after two defeats against England (2-0) and Paraguay (2-0) and a draw against Sweden ( 0-0).

The last position held by Yorke, who turns 53 on Sunday, was as coach of Australian club MacArthur FC for six months until January 2023.
