The African Football awards ceremony, the CAF Awards 2024, will take place on December 16 in Marrakech, as announced Tuesday by the Confederation of African Football.
“After the successful event which saw the Senegalese Sadio Mané and the Nigerian Asisat Oshoala crowned best player in Rabat last year, CAF will once again distinguish the major players in African football during a ceremony. prestige in the Cherifian Kingdom,” CAF said in a press release.
In a post published on its social networks, in the early evening of Thursday, October 31, the supreme body of African football highlights the holding of this high mass in Morocco.
“A look back at last year’s awards ceremony. We can’t wait to know the next one,” writes CAF in a message illustrated by a video of the last edition which was a great success.
The Atlas Lions present in force
Two Moroccan players appear in the first list of nominees for the title of best African player of the year: Achraf Hakimi (Paris Saint-Germain, France) and Soufiane Rahimi (Al-Aïn FC, United Arab Emirates).
The list also includes Ivorian Simon Adingra (Brighton, England), Nigerian Ademola Lookman (Atalanta Bergamo, Italy) and Guinean Serhou Guirassy (Borussia Dortmund, Germany).
For the young player of the year category, two Atlas Lions are contenders for the trophy: Eliesse Ben Seghir (AS Monaco, France) and (Bilal El Khannouss (Leicester City, England).
Goalkeeper Munir El Kajoui (Renaissance sportif de Berkane) is nominated for the best keeper of the year award, while in the category of best players in interclub competitions, the latter’s teammate, Issoufou Dayo, is nominated. And their club is a candidate for the title of best club of the year.
Also, Morocco is nominated in the national team of the year category.
