William Nylander scored two goals and the Maple Leafs beat the Seattle Kraken 4-1 on Thursday night.

The Kraken has lost four of its last five games. He defeated the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday by a score of 8 to 2. Joey Daccord also stopped 24 shots.

Nylander scored twice in the second period. Posted at the mouth of the net, Nylander caught Morgan Rielly’s pass on the other side to beat goalkeeper Joey Daccord who did not have time to complete his move to the right.

He scored from the same spot for his eighth goal of the season after a nice pass from John Tavares on his knees. Max Pacioretty also had an assist on the sequence.

Matthew Knies opened the scoring in the first third. Auston Matthews completed the score into an empty net, his fifth this season, and he also had an assist.

Sidney Crosby scored two goals, including one in overtime, to give the Pittsburgh Penguins a 2-1 victory over the Anaheim Ducks.

The Penguins captain first tied the game 1-1 in the third period by deflecting a shot from defenseman Matt Grzelcyk.

Then, in overtime, Crosby took advantage of a turnover in Ducks territory to get alone in front of Lukas Dostal, whom he thwarted with several feints.

Despite being 37 years old, the Cole Harbor native center collected 12 points, including three goals, in his first 12 games this season.

Alex Killorn scored the only goal for the Ducks. Trevor Zegras and Cutter Gauthier had assists.
