Mercato: Kvara said yes to PSG, but does not close the door to Napoli

Seen from Italy, the desire of Georgian winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to join PSG is not necessarily obvious: he agrees with the Parisian club but leaves the door open to Napoli as long as the club improves his contract.

An annual €7.5M agreement with PSG

Among the many transfer window rumors that will exist during the summer, there is one that seems to make everyone agree: PSG and Napoli winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia have found a contractual agreement with a view to a possible transfer. Both the French and Italian media agree on this point and the transalpine press of the day also announces that the salary proposed by the Parisian club would be €7.5M net per year, or around the €10M gross per year which could have been filter in France.

But Kvara is still a long way from PSG today given that his club, Napoli, is absolutely not a seller. On the contrary, new coach Antonio Conte is expected to sign his new contract shortly and is expected to make the 23-year-old Georgian one of his main men, if not his key player. Logically, its president Aurelio De Laurentiis does not really intend to deprive his new coach of a player on whom he relies a lot.

A transfer to PSG or… a big increase in Naples

And on the Kvaratskhelia side, the situation is not simple either. PSG offers him a golden bridge and the possibility of playing the Champions League while Napoli will not play any European Cup. In Paris, his salary would also be multiplied, his emoluments being estimated at €1.5M net annually in Naples. But as several Italian media have written in recent hours, Kvara is not ready to do anything to leave the South of Italy.

There is therefore talk of a contract extension for Kvara in Naples, even if his current lease already runs until June 2027. It is therefore mainly a question of a revaluation and, according to today’s Gazzetta dello Sport, the agent of the player Mamuka Jugeli would ask for a salary of €5M net annually plus bonuses to extend the current contract. And possibly a release clause between €130 and €150 million in order to keep an exit door for the player.

It now remains to be seen whether Napoli will be ready to accept this request from the Kvaratskhelia clan and, in the event of refusal, to what extent the Italian club will be able to resist a PSG which is pushing hard in the matter. The Italian press of the day also repeats that the Parisian offer of €100 million would not convince Napoli at this moment.
