Al-Hilal beats Al-Nassr again and wins the King of Champions Cup

This season, Al-Nassr has never been able to stand up to Al-Hilal. For their last clash of the season, the two teams from Riyadh met for the final of the King of Champions Cup. In other words, this was the last chance for Cristiano Ronaldo to beat Aleksander Mitrovic’s teammates this season and win his first title with the Saudi team. And as is often the case, it didn’t go as planned. While Cristiano Ronaldo distinguished himself with a superb return which failed on the bar, Al-Nassr conceded the opener via the Saudi Arabian champion who took the advantage thanks to his Serbian striker (7th) .

At the start of the second act, the affairs of Luis Castro’s men did not improve with the expulsion of David Ospina (56th). However, luck finally smiled on them. Indeed, Al-Nassr’s numerical inferiority was erased with the expulsion of Al-Bulayhi (87th). In the following minute, Al-Hilal conceded a second blow with the equalizer from Ayman Yahya (1-1, 88th). The men in blue were even reduced to nine with the expulsion of Kalidou Koulibaly (90+1st). And after a stormy overtime, the two teams were decided on penalties. While Ruben Neves and Alex Telles missed their first attempts, their four other teammates, including Mitrovic on the Al-Hilal side and CR7 on the Al-Nassr side, did not miss their banderillas. And once again, while Al-Dawsari put his shot on goal, the seventh for Jorge Jesus’ men, Al Nemer finally missed his attempt following a good save from Yassine Bounou and Al-Hilal therefore awarded the title at the end of a great battle.
