Bruno Prouillac: “The victory of the collective”

This Sunday, supported by all the CSB youth teams, by all the “yellow and blue” supporters as well as by the club’s veterans, the seniors 1 of CahorSauzet Basket finished in 4th place in their remaining group out of 8 teams by beating the undisputed leader of the group, TOAC 2. A victory of two small points (78/76) while the Lotois had lost three times this season against Toulouse’s hopes. In a bullfight atmosphere, it was necessary exemplary courage from a group united as never before to get rid of the leader.

CSB 1 coach Bruno Prouillac talks about this last match of the season and takes stock of the season.

Bruno, what will you remember from this beautiful but difficult victory against TOAC 2?

Satisfied with what my entire group produced, which for a rare time was almost complete. We were the best defense in our group which received the 2nd best attack and holding TOAC 2 to less than 80 points was the common thread that allowed us to beat them but it was above all collectively that we were superior to them. We managed in the first 3 quarters to contain them as best we could and in the 4th quarter, with the support of our public, we locked down the rebounds on both sides of the field and our defense made the difference . And in attack, I would like to give a special mention to a young man trained at the Hugo Discazeaux club, 18 years old, who played a big part in the money time.

What will you remember from this season?

That basketball is a team sport and that it is our entire group and all the staff (Guillaume Roux and myself) who have managed to maintain themselves at the highest regional level. It’s true that the objectives at the start of the season were not achieved, particularly due to injuries and suspensions which penalized us a lot, but we worked hard in training to maintain ourselves and I have nothing to blame on my group. The turning point was our victory in North East Toulouse which marked the true birth of a group and our two victories against Auch 2 and TOAC 2 proved it. It’s up to us, for next season, to continue working and training young people to prepare the long-term future of the CSB.
