The tour of Stade Toulousain players to present the European Rugby Cup, victorious for the sixth time in the Champions Cup, is a tradition in Toulouse. The supporters followed them, Sunday May 26, to the Chez Tonton brasserie, to the Victor-Hugo market, to the Capitole where the team must go at the end of the afternoon.

For Stade Toulousain supporters, the night from Saturday to Sunday May 26 was short to follow the return of the victorious players (31-22), after a Champions Cup final full of surprises against Leinster at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London. Arriving at more than one in the morning at Toulouse Blagnac airport, the red and black, some of them were seen in different places in Toulouse, notably at the emblematic brasserie on Place Saint-Pierre Chez Tonton.

“Often the day after a big victory, the players come to Tonton’s, some of them anyway, the others go around the bars,” explains Lucas, a supporter from the start. Some players have shops in town where they will present the trophy, notably at the Victor-Hugo market.”

The winners spent a little time at the Bar des Amis refreshment bar, inside the market. The traders and the few customers present then took selfies with the European Cup. The players then went, around 9 a.m., to the Capitol, said a supporter. Matthis Lebel was also present, in the morning, alongside Arnold, Mauvaka and others at Tonton to hold up the European Cup trophy, the sixth won by Stade Toulousain.

“We feel very tired after the match…”

“They are very open with people, unlike football, their proximity to the supporters is really cool,” adds Lucas. Same story for Céline, who was able to obtain a cap offered to her little boy autographed by Mauvaka: “We feel the players are very approachable,” she said, “but very tired after this match. We are coming to perpetuate the tradition.”

“For me, confides Alexis, it’s the first time I’ve come to see them at Tonton, it really shows the Toulouse spirit, the fact of meeting with the supporters, that’s not given to all teams. It shows the enthusiasm they have for us.”
