This TQO, “It’s just motivation and excitement”

It is in -54 kg that Romane Moulai is aiming to qualify for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, a new category for her.

“Basically, I was in the -50 kg category. I was asked to move up the category to -54 kg and I found myself number 1. I competed in several tournaments, so I had no doubt about the fact that I had my place in -54 kg. »

Despite a premature defeat at the first TQO at Busto Arsizio in Italy on March 7, the boxer kept her good humor and her thirst for victory.

“At the first qualifying tournament, I lacked direction. It was the first TQO of my career and I wasn’t necessarily comfortable. I went straight back to work as soon as I lost. There, I am really determined, really motivated and I know that it will work. It’s just motivation and excitement. »

To obtain an Olympic quota, Romane Moulai will have to win three fights and reach the semi-finals of the tournament.

A victory would allow her to join the other French boxers already qualified* in Paris: Wassila Lkhadiri (-50 kg), Amina Zidani (-57 kg), Estelle Mossely (-60 kg) and Davina Michel (-75kg).

They form a very united and complementary team where everyone thrives in a good mood.

“We each have our role. I’m the youngest, so Amina (Zidani) has a bit of a big sister role with me. Wassila (Lkhadiri) will motivate us. The fact that we perform is also the fact that we are united and that we are in the right atmosphere. That’s why we called ourselves the ‘Organized Band’ too. »

“We listened Organized band in the car and we were really just singing as a group, singing and singing. Amina said ‘we’re going to call ourselves The Organized Gang'”

What could be more logical in the end to see Romane la Marseillaise trying to join the ‘organized gang’ of qualifiers* for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games?

Response during this second world boxing TQO in Bangkok, Thailand from May 24 to June 2.

Is it Paris baby?
