Emil Heineman deserves the chance to play in the top-6

After six games, there is a fairly easy observation to remember when we think about the Canadian’s season so far.

The top-6 must be better.

Nick Suzuki and Juraj Slafkovsky are slow and the club’s second line is simply disappointing. Kirby Dach, Alex Newhook and Joel Armia do not deliver the goods…

It’s up to Martin St-Louis to find solutions to revive his best players and at this level, perhaps it would be time to stir things up a bit.

Because there are other guys in the lineup who deserve the chance to showcase themselves on one of the club’s top two units right now.

In fact, there is one that comes to mind and I’m talking about Emil Heineman.

The Swede is having a good start to the season because he is involved on the ice. He uses his speed to be effective on the forecheck, he hits the opponent because he is not afraid to go to the corner and he uses his shot to score.

We saw the quality of his shot yesterday in the shootout, but we also saw it earlier this week against the Penguins.

Heineman has a National League shot:

I would like to see Heineman get the opportunity to play alongside Kirby Dach or Nick Suzuki, two guys who are known as good passers.

And my explanation is relatively simple: The Swede is more of a shooter and he must be able to rely on a player who can give him the puck more often on the ice.

By being used on the 4th line, with Christian Dvorak at center… I have the impression that the Canadian is “wasting” his potential in a way, because D-Vo has brought nothing to the club from the start of the season.

Emil Heineman has great qualities in his game and that is why he was selected in the second round of the draft (2020). That said, he is capable of highlighting his qualities and there, it is up to Martin St-Louis to open his eyes and trust him.

The CH head coach likes to go there on merit, usually. That said, it’s time to give Heineman a better opportunity to showcase himself because he is one of the players who has been giving and performing since the start of the campaign.
