Club Brugge has conceded goals easily this season, and the arrival of Romero has not yet changed the situation. Hugo Broos speaks out on this problem.
Club Brugge has already played 13 official matches this season and has conceded 17 goals: 12 in the league, 2 in the Super Cup and 3 in the Champions League.
“It’s too much, especially when you see how these goals are often conceded. Is it due to a lack of experience in defense? Being young shouldn’t be an excuse, but it can play a role in big matches” , declares Hugo Broos in the Newspaper of West Flanders.
The choice to place Romero as a left-footed central defender is understandable, but it is surprising to see that he plays very little. “Is it a question of quality? Maybe.”
This automatically raises questions: “If you sign someone like Romero from a big Argentinian club, it’s because there was a need in defense. But he barely plays. Is it because he has to still adapt or because he is not the right choice?”
There are other examples of players who first need time to adapt before exploding, like Pacho at Antwerp.
