After the Tour of Lombardy last weekend, part of the peloton stayed in Italy to participate in the two events in Veneto, the Tour of Veneto Wednesday and Classic Veneto Sunday. THE Tour of Veneto therefore takes place in the North-East of Italy and will offer a hilly course with 12 listed hills and a punchy finish. In 2023, a Frenchman won, Dorian Godon (Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale) won in the sprint. But the Habs will not be able to defend their title this year since Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale is not one of the 9 WorldTour teams entered in the event.

Marc Hirschi’s tenth? The favorites of this 87th edition
Looking at the names at the start of this Tour of Venetoone stands out, that of Marc Hirschi (UAE Team Emirates). The Swiss excels in this second part of the season, as evidenced by his 8 successes since July, including two in the WorldTour on the Bretagne Classic and the Classica San Sebastian. He then followed up with 4 successes in Italy since September and a 6th place in the World Championships. The course, strewn with small bumps, should suit him perfectly and he will be able to count on his burst of speed if he arrives in a small group.
However, Hirschi will find beautiful people at the start. The New Zealander Corbin Strong (Israel-Premier Tech), 4th here last year, could show his speed if he is still there in the final, just like the Italian Vincenzo Albanese (Arkéa-B&B Hotels) or the French Axel Laurance (Alpecin-Deceuninck). Respectively 2nd and 3rd in the 2023 edition, Tobias Halland Johannessen (Uno-X Mobility) et Florian Vermeersch (Lotto Dstny) will also be at the start of a race that they appreciate and which they will approach in good condition. As for the French, besides Laurance, Romain Grégoire (Groupama-FDJ) could succeed Thank youhe who finished 2nd in the Agostoni Cup 10 days ago, beaten by… Marc Hirschi.
