BMW formalizes the departure of Nick Yelloly

Almost a month ago, we revealed to you that Nick Yelloly was preparing to join Meyer Shank Racing, the team for which he will compete in IMSA next year alongside Renger Van der Zande. With formalization progressing quickly, BMW today formalized the departure of the British driver, after six years of collaboration.

« I am incredibly grateful for everything BMW M Motorsport has done for me, underlines the person concerned. They were the first to give me a chance as a factory rider in 2019, and together we celebrated many successes. I have thoroughly enjoyed my adventure as an official BMW M driver and I wish BMW M Motorsport all the best for the future. »

Nick Yelloly joined BMW M Motorsport in 2019 and immediately found success with his new employer and the M6 GT3. With the FIST-Team AAI he won the China GT. With Walkenhorst Motorsport, he won the qualifying race for the 24 hours of the Nürburgring, an event he won a year later, under the colors of Rowe Racing and in the company of Nick Catsburg and Alexander Sims ⬆️.

In June/July 2023, Yelloly probably had the best week of his racing career so far. First of all, it gave the BMW M Hybrid V8 its first victory. It was at Watkins-Glen with Connor De Phillippi. The following weekend, he put his name on the list of winners at the legendary 24 Hours of Spa with Philipp Eng and Marco Wittmann, with whom he shared the wheel of a ROWE Racing M4 GT3.

Most recently, Nick took second place on the podium at The Battle on The Bricks, an IMSA round held at the Indianapolis Speedway, for what will remain the last of his six podiums with Connor de Phillippi in the IMSA SportsCar Championship.

« Nick Yelloly is a great professional who has achieved a lot with BMW M Motorsport, explains BMW M Motorsport Director Andreas Roos. On behalf of the entire BMW family, I thank him for six wonderful years which have given many reasons to rejoice. Personally, I will always remember this week of consecutive victories at Watkins Glen and Spa-Francorchamps. Nick Yelloly has everything a manufacturer could want in a racing driver. He is extremely talented, he is a great guy on a human level and you can always count on him. I wish him the best for his future and look forward to new encounters on circuits around the world. »
