Urunani BC has the ambition to secure its first qualification for the final phase of the 5th edition of the Basketball Africa League (BAL). The team has strengthened and there is a reunion between the Senegalese technician and players who played in the local championship.

The Burundian club has announced its new recruits for this qualifying stage. In addition to the arrival of a Senegalese coach Mamadou Gueye Pabi, the team was also strengthened with players like Jean Jacques Boissy and Mohamed Doumbia. These two players have extended their contracts with Urunani BC. The first city has two BAL seasons and was decisive in the team’s qualifications. Also determining in the group, Mohamed Doumbia, king of the local championship, also continues the adventure.

In addition to these Senegalese players mentioned, a former Gabelou has joined the squad. Chris Crawford, who is one of the top scorers in the African league, will play the Road To BAL with Urunani BC. He is still waiting to lift the BAL champion trophy with experiences with SLAC, US Monastir and AS Douanes. Mamadou Gueye Pabi and his men flew to Tanzania this Monday. They will play their first match on October 16 against the host club, JKT.

Urunani is competing in the Road to BAL for the second time, having finished in third place in the Elite 16 of the Eastern Division in South Africa in 2022. The Eastern Division will take place from October 15-20. The teams expected in Dar es Salaam are Nairobi City Thunder (Kenya), GNBC (Madagascar), Unshindzi (Comoros), Hawassa City (Ethiopia), Beau Vallon Heat (Seychelles) and Urunani (Burundi).
