Club Brugge is rubbing its hands: Maxim De Cuyper probably took another few million euros from the market with his first international goal. His agent spoke about the future of the Bruges full-back.
Thanks to his strike against Italy, Maxim De Cuyper helped Belgium come back from a 2-0 deficit to finally secure a draw. “Maxim is proud to play for his country, but the result remains the most important,” says Axel Vergeylen, De Cuyper’s agent, in the Italian media Number Ten.
De Cuyper is increasingly getting his chance from coach Domenico Tedesco, who has great confidence in his qualities. According to Vergeylen, this is exactly what De Cuyper is aiming for.
“The ambition is to become first choice for his position at the Red Devils,” says Vergeylen. With his performances both at Club Brugge and in Belgium, De Cuyper proves that he is ready to play a key role.
However, Vergeylen emphasizes that De Cuyper remains focused on his current club while calmly working towards the next stage of his career. “You have to go step by step. First perform in Bruges and then, at the right time, move to a big club. The goal is to aim as high as possible,” explains Vergeylen.
The young full-back’s offensive qualities are his number one asset. His strong performance against Italy attracted the attention of big clubs. “Maxim is attracting a lot of interest, including in Italy. Serie A is certainly a great competition, but it is still too early to mention names,” concludes Vergeylen.
