A big change coming for VAR and referees in the Pro League – All football

Referee discussions have resumed their cruising speed in the Jupiler Pro League. The league has decided to invest in Semi-Automated Offline Technology.

The Jupiler Pro League wants to strike a major blow with a notable change. Soon, the Belgian championship will also have a 3D offside line, reports Het Laatste Nieuws.

The Pro League has decided to invest in Semi-Automated Offline Technology. This technology is already used in the Champions League, and was also used during last summer’s Euro.

A significant saving of time and saliva

The system normally ensures that no discussion can arise regarding offside. The video referee will therefore no longer need to draw a line himself. Good news for clubs and referees, already under pressure at the start of the season.

Our leaders will work with the same company as the Premier League. They already wanted to introduce this system, but due to additional testing its implementation was postponed.

It is expected that our championship will be able to benefit from the new technology in the spring of 2025. This will allow a decision regarding offside to be made on average 31 seconds faster.
